Mockingbird Foundation Grant

Yay! I won a grant for our school. Take a look below at the press release, written by Jen Todd from the Tennessean:
"Dan Mills Elementary students will soon be drumming their own beats, thanks to a special grant.

Fans of the '80s rock band Phish awarded the Inglewood school $4,300 through the Mockingbird Foundation to use toward world drumming packages to create the Danmills' Rockin', Unique Musicians (DRUM) program.

The school was one of 12 chosen to receive grants, all going toward instruments or other music education-related funds.

The foundation, which raises money through Phish-related events to support child music education, received more than 1,000 requests for grants.

The DRUM program also accompanies Mayor Karl Dean and Metro Nashville Public Schools' Music Makes Us initiative, which aims to engage K-12 students with a traditional and contemporary curriculum.

For more information about the foundation and the grant, visit www.mbird.org."
