I will continue to incorporate improvising into my curriculum. The kids LOVE IT! This year we used both non-pitched and pitched percussion instruments into several improvising lessons. When using the pentatonic scale, the students had instant success because there were NO WRONG NOTES. WOWZA!!! Kids loved making up their own melodies!
I wish I could post some of the video from our Lakeview Little Kids Rock Concert. It was spectacular. I was so impressed with the students. They played guitars, drums and bass guitar, and sang several hit songs during the concert. They got over their stage fright and did outstandingly well for having only started the guitar in December. WOW!
Reading ROCKS - ROCK THE TEST
ROCK THE TEST! The theme for our annual TCAP test was called, Rock The Test. The Friday before the test all the teachers and students dressed up like rock stars. It was a lot of fun!.
